Borgo San Felice

San Felice - Italy

Overview

Borgo San Felice is situated high on a hill among the vineyards and olive groves of the Chianti Hills, not far from Siena.

The tiny hamlet of San Felice has been around since the eighth century and is considered one of the most important wineries of the Chianti Classico estates, making it a classic destination for wine lovers.

Tuscany’s rich cultural heritage is also on your doorstep: Romanesque churches and Chianti abbeys, castles and medieval houses dot the picturesque landscape.

Accommodation

This prestigious hotel has 43 rooms, including elegant suites. Guests stay either in the main palazzo on the hamlet's small piazza or in the medieval houses with their characteristic arches, loggias and stairways. Some rooms have beautiful views, encompassing the rhythm of Chianti hills towards Siena and the high peak of Monte Amiata beyond. Others look over the charming stone-built hamlet and its lanes, giving an incomparable sense of time standing still.

The rooms are furnished with quality, hand crafted and antique Tuscan furniture. The sizes of the rooms vary from building to building, reflecting their authenticity and the uses to which they were put in the past.

Restaurants & Bars

The restaurant Poggio Rosso serves elaborate and innovative dishes that never lose sight of typically Tuscan values. The two basic protagonists are Chianti Classico extra virgin olive oil and wine.

The cuisine is of such utmost importance that it is almost the star attraction of this Relais hotel, which combines Chianti cuisine with a touch of creativity to improve and stimulate the gourmet traditions of the region. In order to achieve this objective, only the highest quality ingredients are used.

The wine list includes various Sangiovese wines, which accompany the dishes on the menu well, as well as Chianti Classico wines and Brunello di Montalcino. The wine list is extensive and well-researched, including over five hundred labels.

Recreation

Recreational facilities at San Felice include tennis courts, a putting and pitching green, swimming pool, gym and mountain bikes; guests can follow signed botanical trails to enjoy the local flora and aspects of the region's insect and wild life.

San Felice also boasts a Health Centre offering Wine Therapy: these new anti-stress, slimming, purifying and skin treatments rely on the therapeutic and beneficial properties of wine and grapes, which have been scientifically proved over the past decade.
